Wendy Kopp

First unveiled over 20 years ago in her 177-page long senior thesis, Kopp’s vision of charter schools catapulted the charter school movement to the mainstream and forever changed the lives of tens of thousands of teachers and millions of learners in America’s neediest communities.

The Founder of Teach for America, Kopp’s vision of inspiring recent college graduates to spend a few years teaching disadvantaged children after graduating college by far exceeded expectations and became one of the most influential organizations in the American education system.

In 2013, Kopp relinquished her day-to-day duties as president of Teach for America to expand her vision globally and and founded Teach For All—which is a global network of independent social enterprises that applies the principles of Teach For America worldwide.

Kopp is the recipient of approximately a dozen honorary doctorate degrees and innumerable awards that include the Schwab Foundation’s Outstanding social Entrepreneurial Award, the Presidential Citizens Medal, and the Spelman College National Community Service Award.
